copying this over from a long thread bc i keep losing the link. not my research, just consolidating. so the OG Ahool sighting everyone cites is Ernest Bartels — son of an actual ornithologist, M.E.G. Bartels, so the family knew their birds. 1925, he's out at a waterfall on the slopes of Gunung Sala……
