Borley Rectory, Essex. Built 1862, burned 1939, demolished '44, and for a while THE haunted house in England. The legend underneath is the good part: a nun who broke her vows for a monk, supposedly bricked up alive in the walls. Four daughters of the rector claimed they saw her in the garden at dusk……
